    Monday’s WOD:
Today’s workout is one we have been anticipating for the past few weeks! The ladies behind the “50 States In a Year” fundraising tour will be at the gym for all classes today raising funds for their monthly selected charity. This month’s charity is the Habitat For Humanity International, with fundraising efforts focused on providing emergency shelter for Nepali earthquake victims. They will have a computer set up for online donations, and can accept pay pal donations as well. They will be giving away prizes, and will have t-shirts available for purchase to help support their cause! Whether you can make a donation or not, come start this week off with a bang, and throw down with these ladies for a worthy cause! See you all tomorrow! Check out their website/blog for more information!

  • CLAIMED!

Alrighty gang, TOMORROW we are doing the hero workout “Murph” Most affiliates participate in the MEMORIAL DAY Murph Challenge, but we are doing it a week early. Class times will be regular Saturday hours 930, 1030, and 1130. It should go without saying, but this workout has the potential to take you a decent amount of time…and by decent amount of time I mean…a long ass time…so plan on showing up, warming up quickly, and getting right to the action. ALSO, expect the classes to blend together…this workout could very well take some of you longer than the hour time slot…I am ok with that if you are ok with that…I know I am a buzzkillington in some regards, but since I only have a few vests, I am going to be strict about who can wear them for the workout. If this is your very first time doing Murph, meaning you have never done it before, I am going to ask that you do it WITHOUT a vest this year. If you are SCALING (ring rows, push ups on your knees, etc) I am going to ask that you DO NOT wear a vest. If you cannot handle 10-20 STRICT pull ups with ease, I am going to RECOMMEND that you NOT wear a vest for this. This work out is PLENTY challenging without the vest. Trust me. HOWEVER, If you would like to try PORTIONS of the workout with weight, you may do things like carry a weight on the runs, or bring an empty backpack like I have allowed athletes to do in the past Nathan Cahill Johnson will tell you how awesome that is), and we can throw a slamball (or two) in there and you can use that for your pull ups, push ups, and squats…but I say again…this workout is plenty challenging WITHOUT the weighted component. For my athletes who have done this workout before, or have used the vest before, and can handle the workload, my vests are still limited. I only have FIVE vests that we can use…not all vests are created equal…some are nice quality, while the others are a step above duct taping a sandbag to your chest…either way…I have FIVE vests to share across the 3 classes. SO if you have access to YOUR OWN vest, or know someone you can borrow a vest (or body armor) from, go ahead and do that. If not, the rule of CLAIMING the vests will be in effect….(See video below) The weather calls for rain tomorrow afternoon, but we will be doing this workout rain or shine…be there…bring a friend or two…and lets get after one of the most recognizable, and most inspiring hero workouts you will ever do.
