    Monday’s WOD:

    Image

Tomorrow marks the beginning of a new cycle of programming. You will see a very concentrated strength program so it is important to keep track of all of your numbers and weights throughout the duration of the program.  This cycle of programming will be used to amp up our readiness for the CrossFit Open which is rapidly approaching. There will be more information about the Open in the upcoming weeks.

Tomorrow is also the beginning of our nutrition focus. With the start of the new year many of you have already made a commitment to clean up your nutrition and may have already started a new diet. In the next week we will be posting tid-bits about certain diets and eating habits that will hopefully inspire you to try something different. This week of information will be leading up to the beginning of our nutrition challenge which will officially begin on Saturday the 12th.

On Saturday we will conduct body measurements and weigh-ins for all athletes who are interested in participating. The challenge will go from January 12th – February 9th and upon completion the athlete with the biggest change in body fat percentage will win a free month of CrossFit! More details on the specifics of the challenge will be released throughout the week so you can make informed decisions on which diet you feel would be best for you.

This is NOT a mandatory challenge, but rather an opportunity to try something different, and experiment with a new way of fueling your body that may help you understand how significant a healthy diet is to the overall aspect of a healthy lifestyle.

    Friday’s WOD:

    “The Chief”
Each year in the United States Navy, a highly qualified and elite cadre of Sailors are selected and promoted to the join the ranks of Chief Petty Officer. Since 1893, “The Chiefs” have been relied upon by subordinates and superiors alike for their personal example, technical expertise and above all, their unique leadership capabilities. As the induction process for newly selected Chief Petty Officers is now underway throughout the US Navy, we thought it appropriate to inaugurate “The Chief” in honor and recognition of all past and present CPOs. Thanks to them and their families for their self-sacrifice, ability to adapt, tireless dedication to mission and devotion to country.

    Thursday’s WOD:

    Image
Another hero WOD! The link about “Bradshaw” is included below as well. Often times we get too caught up in how brutal these WODs are that we forget about the reasoning behind them. As a culture CrossFit has a large appeal to the first responder types, military, fire fighters, police officers, etc. Hero workouts were designed to be tough, and yes, sometimes even miserable (i.e. Tommy Mac) Understand that when these hero workouts come about that they were designed to serve in memory of an individual who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the line of their specific duty. So when these workouts come up, challenge yourself, it them hard, and understand the purpose.
