A game day letter to my father:The power of choice has been a common theme this year.
This year’s training has had its fair share of ups and downs for you.
Per the usual, you set the bar high for yourself.
You CHOSE to stay committed to your goals.
You faced personal loss and setbacks.
You CHOSE to not let that weaken your spirit.
You suffered an injury that interfered with your training.
You CHOSE to not let that stop you from putting in work.
You fell sick a week before race day.
You CHOSE not to be sidelined.
Mother Nature had other plans for your flight arrangements and weekend plans.
You CHOSE to not let that stop you from another dream run.
You have all of the pieces to this puzzle. Not only do you deserve to be where you are, you worked, fought, earned, and literally bled to be where you are. That’s what makes this time so special.
I told you a year ago that I didn’t want to make you a CrossFitter, and that I just wanted to make you a stronger runner. Physically you most definitey got stronger, and while you have always been mentally tough, I believe CrossFit especially helped show you that even in high levels of discomfort, you can rise to any challenge.
The runner in you will get you 26.2 miles.
The CrossFit athlete/competitor in you won’t let you falter if those miles get challenging.
This is your dream run. This is your moment.
Thank you for again CHOOSING me to help you get there.
Think like a bumble bee, run like a race horse.
CHOOSE to go get YOUR day!
